How does ONDA lifting refine the facial contour?

Why do "water molecules" and the "fat layer" matter?

Radiofrequency and ultrasound lifting set a target depth and concentrate heat at that point. The 2.45GHz microwaves used by ONDA work a little differently. They shake water molecules in the tissue to create heat, and because this frequency is well absorbed by fat cells, energy reaches the subcutaneous fat layer.

So ONDA is especially useful not just for loose skin but when fat, such as cheek fat or a double chin, also makes the contour look heavy. The epidermis is continuously cooled by the Coolwaves system during treatment, so surface irritation is reduced while heat is delivered to the deeper layers.

Who it suits, and when we recommend something else

In clinic, we generally recommend ONDA first for people whose facial contour looks blurred because of excess fat under the jawline and at the sides of the cheeks, people who have hesitated about lifting because of strong pain, and people who need to return to daily life right after treatment.

On the other hand, if the cheeks are hollow and there is already little fat, ONDA, which acts on the fat layer, may not be suitable. In such cases, we first consider collagen injections to restore volume or ultrasound lifting that targets the SMAS layer. Even when it's the same "sagging," a different cause calls for a different device.

How is the procedure done?

The director first checks your facial structure and fat distribution, then decides the amount of energy (kJ) and the areas to treat. Treatment takes about 10–20 minutes for the face. During treatment, many people feel warmth rather than stinging. How much pain you feel varies by area and by person, so we adjust the energy during treatment as well.

There may be slight redness or warmth right after, but it usually subsides the same day, and you can wash your face and apply makeup right away. Rarely, swelling or tenderness may last a few days, so please be sure to listen to the explanation before treatment.

When do results show, and how long do they last?

Many people feel firmer right after, but the changes from new collagen and fewer fat cells appear over weeks to months. The degree of change and how long it lasts vary widely with skin thickness, amount of fat, and lifestyle.

Rather than expecting a big change at once, results are more stable when you set an energy level and interval suited to your current face and maintain it. Serene Clinic recommends additional treatments only when needed and does not recommend unnecessary multi-session packages.
